Museum quality reproduction item

During WWI many of the Squadrons had a symbol painted on the side of their aircraft. The Pilots then had these made up into silver pins. This is a museum quality reproduction of the very rare 93rd Aero Squadron Pin in Sterling Silver. The pin is 1 7/8 inches wide and is a pin back with a center drop clasp. This pin was worn over the Pilots wings on the left side of the uniform to designate their squadron. This followed the practice started by the French. Here is a chance to have one until an original comes along. Two versions of this pin exist, this is the larger pin back which leads me to believe it was a latter made insignia. The 93rd was a pursuit squadron arriving at the front on July 28, 1918. The squadron took part in 157 war missions, fought in 64 combats and is credited with downing 32 aircraft. The 93rd suffer 2 killed, 1 wounded and 5 prisoners. On December 11, 1918 the squadron ceased to function.

Pat Pyott has been producing these fantastic porcelain relief tiles and dishes for many years and I first noticed these at the many local restaurants that use her plates and dishes.
