This is a reproduction of the WWII Navy Flight Surgeon Wings, shirt size. The Flight Surgeon wings were announced on 29 July 1942. One of the requirements was that the gold was to be dull and the acorn silver. This wing is made of Sterling Silver with a 24 karat gold plate, except on the acorn.
