WWI ' USMC Enlished Hat EGA Sterling with Gold by Weingarten Gallery
Item Number: P-1681In 1921 the Airship Pilot Badge (while it looks like a wing it was never officially called that) was introduced by the US Army. This is a very well made sterling silver replica of that badge 3 inch (Blackinton Design) with pinback. Not many of these badges were ever made and are missing from many collections after all how many Airship Captains were there. Actually there were about 150. Also it is interesting to note that least 6 know designs existed and maybe as many as 6 of this badge. The badge was abolished on Feb. 20, 1940.
